Olive trees have been cultivated for over 6000 years. Olive Oil was used as a moisturizer and beauty oil by the ancient Romans, Greeks, and Egyptians. Its anti-aging effects can be attributed to the fact that it penetrates the skin and does not sit on top of the skin’s surface as do petroleum and mineral oil products clogging the skin’s pores.

Sesame oil is rich in vitamins A, B, and E, and contains several essential fatty acids such as oleic and linoleic acids that help moisturize and hydrate the skin. It contains phenolic compounds such as sesamin, sesamol, and tocopherol, and more, making it an effective anti-inflammatory and antioxidant.

Tea Tree Oil has been used as a broad-use, traditional remedy for thousands of years by the one of the world’s oldest cultures in the world, the Aboriginals, indigenous to Australia. Our Tea Tree Oil is the highest quality available certified by the New South Wales Department of Agriculture, Australia. By 400 BC comfrey was in use in Greece as an internal and topical remedy through the Middle Ages. Comfrey has been used for a variety of aliments historically and was used extensively in World War I to treat wounds. It contains the richest source of allantoin, found in the roots of comfrey, that has been studied and known to assist in the development of new skin cells. It also contains a high amount of tannins (supporting skin cell growth), rosmarinic acid, vitamin B12, antioxidants, and proteins.

Chlorella is a 2.5-billion-year-old algae that contains a powerhouse of antioxidants, Vitamin A and C – all known to contribute to younger looking skin. Each Chlorella cell reproduces itself remarkably fast, 4X over in 17-24 hours. Historically known to repair damaged tissue, Chlorella also reduces oxidative stress caused by pollution, stress, and poor sleep. This amazing algae imparts the beautiful, energized green color to the Moiteur products.

Beeswax is the natural wax produced by the wax producing glands in the abdominal segments of ‘worker’ honeybees. The wax is discarded in or near the hive. The hive workers collect it to form the hexagonal shaped cells where honey is stored and for larval and pupal protection within the hive.  We use this natural occurring beeswax, a natural emulsifier, because it contains esters of fatty acids and long chain alcohols known to trap moisture and impart a soothing feel to delicate facial skin. We use the beeswax from our own hives first as supplies last.

Croton lechleri Resin Extract has historically been used in the western region of the Amazon and other countries in South America for many conditions including its ability to restore worn skin tissue and heal wounds. This sap/resin extract has anthocyanins and catechins providing powerful antioxidants. It is also an extremely effective anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial and its proanthocyanins bind with enzymes that break down collagen.

Our (from 100% vegetable oils) glycerin has amazing skin-power. Made from plant oils, vegetable glycerin has been studied to improve skin hydration, suppleness, smoothness, and skin irritation in as little as 10 days and has been studied to being more effective for retaining moisture than using hyaluronic acid alone. In studies, it has demonstrated to soothe skin irritations, heal wounded skin quicker, as well as protect against infection, microbes, and irritants. It is especially effective as a barrier against the elements: wind, cold, extreme heat, etc. It has been sited to reduce the ‘smarting’ sensation of eczema.
